AI agent for business: what it is and which tasks it takes on

Automation4 min read25 October 2026

An AI agent is a program with artificial intelligence that doesn't just answer a question but carries out a task step by step on its own: it reads, decides according to your rules and acts. For example, it finds customer payments in a bank statement and prepares completion certificates for them.

In Kazakhstan, the query «ИИ агент» ("AI agent") gets about 390 Google searches a month, and «AI агент» ("AI agent") about 70 (Google Ads data, October 2026). The word is trendy, and very different things are sold under it. Let's look at what it really is.

How an agent differs from a chatbot and an assistant

In short: a chatbot and an assistant talk, an agent does the work.

Which tasks an AI agent takes on

  • Documents. Reads invoices, statements and contracts, pulls out amounts and company details, prepares completion certificates and reports.
  • Requests. Reads a request from WhatsApp or the website, fills in the customer card in the CRM and assigns a task to a manager.
  • Reports. Gathers data from ads, the CRM and spreadsheets and writes short conclusions for the manager.
  • Deadlines and payments. Keeps track of who hasn't replied and who hasn't paid, and reminds staff.

An example from our work

In our agency, an agent goes through the bank statement: it finds which clients have paid, and a completion certificate for each payment is prepared with one click. A person only checks it.

For Aqtas Urbanic (Shymkent), the report for the manager builds itself from Google Ads, amoCRM and Google Search Console, and AI writes short conclusions for it. The numbers are calculated by the program, not by AI.

Where you can't do without a person

An AI agent can make mistakes, especially when the rules are vague. That's why we stick to a simple rule:

  1. The program does the math. Prices, amounts, stock levels — not AI.
  2. A person confirms anything important. Contracts, discounts, money — the agent prepares, an employee confirms with one click.
  3. Difficult customers go to a manager. If a question is unusual, the agent hands it over to a person.

How to introduce an AI agent

  1. Choose one task that repeats every day.
  2. Describe the rules: what the agent does, what it checks, when it calls a person.
  3. Run it on real data for a few weeks.
  4. Connect it to the software you already use: your CRM, spreadsheets, WhatsApp.

Frequently asked questions

Is an AI agent the same thing as ChatGPT?

No. ChatGPT answers in a chat. An agent works inside your software and carries out tasks: it fills things in, checks them and prepares documents.

Can an agent make mistakes?

It can, which is why calculations are done by an ordinary program and important actions are confirmed by a person.

Does an agent need its own software?

Not always. An agent can be connected to amoCRM, spreadsheets and WhatsApp. If your processes are unusual, we build a custom platform with AI.

How long does implementation take?

It depends on the task: simple ones are connected quickly, big ones are built in parts, and you can start using the first parts earlier.
